I posted an article on Cannabadger Nov. 30 about the passing of the fifth American approved to use federal medical marijuana in the Compassionate IND program, George McMahon. (https://cannabadger.com/breaking-news/2019/12/01/rip-george-mcmahon-thir...)
George had also been only the third surviving patient left in the program, with Elvy Musikka and Irv Rosenfeld remaining. In the late 1970s, I obtained paperwork for the program from the first patient approved, Robert Randall, as well as my congressional reps. I never was able to find a doctor willing to apply on my behalf for the program, due to the bureaucratic paperwork involved.
Jacki Rickert's doctor applied on her behalf was able to get her approved in 1990, but she was never supplied.
Stories of the federal patients in the IND program and their connections to Wisconsin wind their way throughout The Rise and Fall of Cannabis Prohibition in Wisconsin. Not only do I discuss my own attempts to gain approval, talk about Jacki's struggle to obtain her federal pot, but I also mention three visits by George McMahon to the state, Robert Randall's 1979 hearing testimony at the Capitol, and visits to the state by Elvy Musikka and Irv Rosenfeld over the years.
Just one of the compelling topics you will find within the book...
